Today was a special day around the hockey universe…at least in the USA where USA Hockey was sponsoring a “Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey” day. Here is the blurb from the USA Hockey site…

Of course I took advantage of the day to wear one of my favorite jerseys to the office. I love collecting hockey jerseys…I have been doing it since I was 10 years old. Unfortunately, I don’t get to wear them as often as I once did. As you probably guessed, hockey jerseys aren’t necessarily proper attire for the press box and we aren’t always able to wear them to the office of my day job. So when the opportunity arose to wear one today I jumped at it!
I selected my Sidney Crosby Rimouski Oceanic navy blue road jersey. It features a QMJHL patch on the right chest, an assistant captain’s “A” on the left and a mini crest on each shoulder.
More and more of these jerseys are starting to pop up around town, but it was once a hard to come by item. I was able to secure one not long after the Kid arrived here in Pittsburgh and it almost immediately become one of my favorites.
It is a very attractive jersey…in fact, many teams in the QMJHL have great jerseys that would make a great addition to any collection. I am particularly partial to that of the Quebec Remparts and hope to add one soon!
Some additional favorites from my collection include an autographed Marc Andre Fleury Penguins jersey from his rookie season, a Toronto St. Pats jersey, an Evgeni Malkin Team Russia jersey featuring the number 18 that he wore in the 2006 Olympics and a Brendan Shanahan Team Canada jersey.
