FTP Goes Mystic Seer with Predictions for the Second Round…

Just like the Mystic Seer, I wanted to quickly throw my predictions out for the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs…luckily, my predictions will be just as accurate for free! No Pennies needed here!

Will have a Penguins/Canadiens preview up tomorrow for you!

First of all… the Western Conference, considering that they start us off this evening.

The Detroit Red Wings head into San Jose this evening for game one of their Western Conference Semi Final Series. Is this the year that the Sharks finally put it all together? I don’t think so… The Red Wings look like they are hitting their yearly playoff stride and are getting contributions for their superstars while at the same time getting great goaltending from Jimmy Howard.

Wings in 6 games…

The Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks meet in a rematch of their second round series from a year ago. The Blackhawks took that one, sending the Canucks home far sooner than they had hoped. I still don’t believe that Roberto Luongo is the guy that will bring the Canucks a Stanley Cup, but I think he will be able to get his team past the Hawks. Look for the Sedin Twinkies (TWINS) and Mikael Samuelsson to pick up where they left off against the Kings as they push the Canucks into the Conference Final…

Canucks in 7 games…

The Eastern Conference:

The Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins lock horns in game one of their series on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers played some inspired hockey in round one and overcame several big injuries en route to knocking the New Jersey Devils out of the playoffs. I think that that inspired play will continue and there is a chance that they could get Simon Gagne back at some point during the series. Though the Bruins are getting Marc Savard back and will get another great series out of Tukka Rask, I believe that the Flyers will take this one.

Flyers in 6 games…

The Pittsburgh Penguins host the upstart Montreal Canadiens who are fresh off of a stunning upset of the Washington Capitals. The Canadiens proved that a sound defensive plan, hard work and a hot goaltender could beat even the most talented of teams…however, the Penguins are well versed in making adjustments on the fly. Look for the Penguins to feel the Canadiens out and play a similar style against them. In the end the Penguins will overcome the tight checking and shot blocking Canadiens to advance to their third consecutive Eastern Conference Final.

Penguins in 6 games…
