Local High School Students Make Pens Lipdub

Being that I am a product of Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School, it isn’t often that I would find a reason to praise the students of Plum High School. I know that is pretty sad…I have been out of high school for close to 20 years and I am still loyal to the Blue and Gold…

Plum High School, the Alma mater of the Columbus Blue Jackets RJ Umberger, was a rival of ours in several different sports. You know how high school sports are…they run deep! You don’t cross the streams and you always stay true to your team. Until today…

I have to give the student body of Plum High School some credit for showing their Penguins spirit. Especially in light of the negativity that has been going around town in regard to the team.

The students took three hours out of their night on April 1st to come to the school to film a Penguins “Lipdub” tribute. The selected the song “I Got a Feelin” by the Black Eyed Peas to be featured in their video…

Here is the Youtube description from the Plum students…

On April 1, 2010 the Television Production students at Plum High School and a few of their friends made a lipdub tribute video about the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over 100 students came to school on Thursday night for the filming. It took approximately two hours to set up, and another hour to film. We have watched several lipdub videos on youtube, and not one of them has had a theme, which is why we went with the Pittsburgh Penguins theme. After debating about several songs to use, the students and I kept on coming back to “I Got a Feelin” by the Black Eyed Peas(which we give credit to them for writing and singing a spectacular song) which was done spectacularly by the students from the University of Montreal. Hopefully you will like ours and go Pens!

Here is the video for you enjoyment… good work gang! I am sure the team appreciates your support!

  2. Coach Tom is a Gateway alum — still VERY loyal even tho he graduated in ’67! But, being employed by Plum School District he is real proud of the good job the Plum kids did on this!
