Morning Penguins Links…

Rumor had it that spring was on the horizon and if the chilly morning is any indication, it is just a rumor.

However a seasonal change does appear to be imminent but I am only willing to give spring’s arrival a “M3” on the Metzer scale.

Those of you who are new to the site may not be familiar with the “M scale”…but let’s just say that an M3 means that numerous sources have confirmed that a seasonal change is coming – nailing down when it will occur? Well, that is for the experts…

@Brian_Metzer RT@TWCi Mother Nature close 2 sending “spring” 2 Pgh for “Old Man Winter,” the “Northern Winds” and a snowmaggedon 2010 T-Shirt.

Enough speculating…we are here for morning links, so with that grab your coffee, danish, bacon and eggs, Red Bull, defibrillator or whatever it is that you use as an eye opener in the morning and settle in for your Morning Penguins Links!

As usual, our morning skate first brings us past our friends over at the Post Gazette. In this piece, Dave Molinari catches up with Eric Godard to get his opinion on the upcoming “Royal Rumble” scheduled to take place in Boston this Thursday evening. Godard doesn’t seem to think that it will get out of hand, however, he may not even be in the line-up to find out.

Godard Close?

Rob Rossi over at the Tribune Review breaks down the Penguins remaining schedule, their amazing March record over the past several season and what it will take to start winning against the Devils/Caps.

Defining Stetch

“Double R” also caught up with Penguins assistant coach Mike Yeo, who had a health scare earlier this season. Here is a brief interview that he conducted with him… Coach Yeo discusses how his life has changed, not getting so tightly wound and more.

What would the morning links collection be if I didn’t provide some additional commentary of head shots and the surrounding legislation! Here is a take from the Edmonton Journal that makes some valid points, but goes down a far fetched and extreme road to do so… what if Marc Savard had died?

Elliott Pap, of the Vancouver Sun, takes this opportunity to tell you how he really feels about former Canuck Matt Cooke. It seems that Cookie isn’t a very popular guy in the town where he spent the formative years of his career.

Public Enemy Number 24

The Penguins game against the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night may look and feel a little bit like it is being played in 1988. Hot Tub Time Machine anyone?? It seems that the Devils will be wearing their throwback red, green and white unis for the only time of the season.

Throwback City

Chuck Greenberg, who served as legal counsel to both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Mario Lemieux and was instrumental in getting the Consol Energy Center built, is close to finalizing his agreement to purchase the Texas Rangers from Tom Hicks.

Last but not least today, the Post Gazette caught up with Jay Baruchel, star of the Pittsburgh filmed “She’s Out of My League.” This was actually posted a few days back, but I am just now finding it! Jay, who was born in Canada, calls Hockey his religion.
