Came across this amazing tribute to the Civic/Mellon Arena today… I figured that now that we are a few short hours away from the final regular season game in the old barn that it would be fitting to post it now.
I am very anxious for tonight… this should be a very special moment for all involved. From the commemorative ticket that is being given away, to the on ice and jumbotron presentations. I am sure that the emotions will be flowing, as it will no doubt be the final evening in the arena for many of the spectators on hand.

A couple quick notes… Chris Kunitz will not play this evening, as he is still battling his shoulder injury. Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar took part in the skate, but their statuses are unknown at this time.
Marc Andre Fleury will be in goal for the Penguins…

Great tribute. I just can’t imagine no longer seeing the dome when I look out my window at work. I really wish the Arena could be put to another use. It made history when it opened.
