The Penguins and Bruins meet for the first time since Matt Cooke knocked Bruins’ forward Marc Savard out with a controversial head shot eleven days ago.
Ken Sawyer, who along with Mario Lemieux, led the Penguins through some of the darkest times in their history and transformed them into one of the premier NHL organizations will retire later this year.

The Penguins came out of the gates strong and looked like the better team for the first 10 minutes of the game. They were skating hard, making skate to skate passes and shooting the puck from all over the ice.
Evgeni Malkin tested his injured foot this morning in New Jersey. He was accompanied by trainer Chris Stewart as he took a light skate before the rest of the team hit the ice for practice. Though is doesn’t look great, no official word on his availability for this evening’s game is yet available.
