Penguins Pummel Philly 7-0 in Opener – 5 Things!
By Brian Metzer The 2026-27 Penguins season began with questions. How would they deploy all the excess bodies they had – especially up front? Injuries helped solve that problem a bit as Bryan Rust, Ben Kindel, Justin Brazeau, Tristan Broz and Andrei Kuzmenko were subtracted from the lineup, the latter due to the tragic loss…
Season 21 Starts Tomorrow. Sleep Can Wait.
By Brian Metzer It feels like I walked through the doors of the Civic Arena to cover my first NHL game yesterday. Yet here I am 20 years later ready to kick off season 21. The crazy thing about it is that when I started writing about the NHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins I never…
Game Number 5… means the Pens are Alive!
Was it desperation? Was it the fact that the hockey world put their captain under a microscope for the past three days? Was it simply finally finding a groove after such a long layoff for the “A” lineup at the end of the regular season? I’m not sure, but the Penguins finally started to look…
Penguins Look to Bounce Back in Game 2
The tagline says it all – Flip the Script. They’ve been doing it all season and they’ll look to do it again tonight when the Penguins meet the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2 at PPG Paints Arena. I mean, you simply can’t Flip the Script if you don’t lose Game 1, right? Hey, if nothing…
Nostalgia – Touring the New Barn
A group of us who were considered non-traditional media were afforded the opportunity to tour the construction of what is now called PPG Paints Arena. It made for a great day for hockey! We saw things when they were very unfinished. I often think back to this day as I make my way through the…

(The photo above features a look at what our front page looked like back on launch day – March 5, 2010) In actuality we didn’t actually go anywhere. In fact, we’ve spent the past many years doing a little bit of everything. I went from working…
Alex Nedeljkovic Makes History: A Goalie’s Goal and Assist
In an extraordinary display of skill and versatility, Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic etched his name into the NHL history books on January 17, 2025. During a thrilling game against the Buffalo Sabres, Nedeljkovic not only guarded the net with precision but also contributed offensively, becoming the second goalie in Penguins’ history to score a goal….
Jarry Clears Waivers, Assigned to WBS
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry recently cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the team’s AHL affiliate. This move comes after Jarry struggled with his performance this season, including allowing goals on opponents’ first shots multiple times. Jarry, who signed a five-year, $26.8 million extension in 2023, has a cap hit of…
